Wait…what? Gluten Remove Beer? What does that mean? My inquiring mind wanted to know and what I’ve found out has me concerned for anyone suffering an immune-mediated reaction to gluten (Celiac Disease). Like lactose-added Lacteeze milk, brewers have simply added an enzyme targeted at the breakdown of the gluten/gliadin molecule to beer made from gluten containing grains. The pieces of the gluten molecule are still present (albeit smaller) and while no longer in their true antigen conformation there is still a chance of creating an immune activation. Stick to a true gluten free beer (like Glutenberg at the NSLC) if you have ever been diagnosed with Celiac Disease.
Avoid Remove Gluten beers like the plague!
